Jims Sci Fi Stories

Ok, so I've asserted that one of my sideline activities is writing science fiction ... even at times "predictive fiction" (fairly near term, hard sci fi).

And realistically, unlike my daughter, I do not hope to become a best selling author (if you saw how much work that is, well beyond just writing good stories), you would see the wisdom of my choice.  Ergo I figure I might put some of my pieces up on the web. ... Who knows, maybe I will stick up a "donations" box for folks to express their gratitude. -- for now, a few free examples perhaps.

• JenAI - (2024) a ProTopian take on Artificial general Intelligence

• Standards, Humbug! -- an early (1997) experiment with using the Web to present a story, oddly relevant in today's world of competing broadband suppliers.

• "The Yahoo Plot"; initially exploring Social Media & Conspiracy in 2006, updated post 6 Jan 2021 to make it independent of the name of a given President -- a curious example of predictive fiction. 

• "Mort d' Gaea"  - A view on the potential for immortality and the future of mankind -- and a remake of Oedipus Rex

• "Tom Quick and the Dead" - a pun read based on the classic Tom Swift model, updated to deal with the small problem that immortality creates for one particular specter.

Not all of my writing has been SciFi, inspired by a local publication, "New Hampshire Pulp Fiction" I've published two stories in their annual anthologies: 

• 2016 Live Free or Ride - "Westward Leading" -- a western incorporating a Concord Coach (the NH Tie)

• 2015 Love Free or Die - "Eyre and Earp" - A romance, set in NH
