Alexander Kustov  1  My first take on the logo for Society of Social Implications of Technology,
The typeface represents excellence and envisions a faster future, being the ieee color always omnipresent.
The circlular logo represents a donut chart, as a metaphor for calcul
ation of impact on society by any tech field or a way to calculate it through a statistical study. Since its a social impact we see an area where the darker blue comes to the lighter almost invisibly becoming its counterpart, also magnifying our vision to bring technology with less cultural shock in it.. trying to find the perfect balance between that.

Asfaa Ashfaq  2 SSIT Logo, I’ve chosen blue color particularly because IEEE logo had blue color (as it had to be compatible with it, The arrow also does the same job). The arrow, particularly its shape represents out of the box thinking and creativity. The double lines outside the arrow on two corners of the square show perspective and social outlook. And lastly, just like IEEE logo is so simple that while writing something, many people just make the symbol, so here too, the symbol can be used in writing by just making a small square with an arrow encircling it.

Bibin Parukoor Thomas     3 In consideration with the theme or motive of SSIT I wanted the logo concept to be quite simple. I kept in mind the key factor of technology influencing the society. The digital hand in the logo can be considered as a point of technology (also symbolizing the gesture technology), which touches the world. The effect of technological innovation on the community isrepresented by a digital touch of the world. It may seem quite simple, but i hope it does the work. The bold letters 'SSIT' have also been creatively mentioned so that it catches the eye of the spectator.

Manjunatha Swamy M 5 SSIT Logo submission
First 'S' denotes the society and second 'S' which is designed as a wire connecting to a mouse, runs parallel to first 'S' . This indicates the interest of SSIT in the implications of Technology on society , both good and bad, as the development happens.
'i' is denoted as a pinnacle of professional & ethical standards of its members. The arrow mark which points in forward direction in 'T' denotes the aim of SSIT to use science and technology to take the society forward by using sustainable development. Color green indicates the very basic idea of 'go-green' where SSIT deals with issues related to energy by encouraging technology which uses less power with higher efficiency. In case green is not compatible with IEEE , i have added black logo too.

6he logo I designed has the world map as it's background, this shows that SSIT has to do with the global society.Boldly written By the left of the SSIT is a luminous glowing globe with different inscription written on it, the inscriptions are as follows: Education-showing that SSIT is educational in character, Global warming-this a very obvious effect on today’s technology, it is there to show that SSIT is aware of it and is embarking on some actions to tackle that. Nuclear peace-it is also a major requirement in the 21st century world, which is a consequence of technological advancement. Discipline- it shows that SSIT is applying discipline for the maintenance of high professional and ethical standards among its members so as to reduce the negative impact of technology on the world.Business machine and success story show the positive impacts of technology on the global society which will improve sales, profit and success rates. The high tech glowing globe shows that SSIT employ technology in its operation. The glowing line-links encircling the glowing globe shows telecommunication links round the world, it shows that SSIT concerns itself with the flow of information round the global Village.

Do comment on this logo so I can be better next time, you can like it as well

7 Theme of the logo is the need of technology to be in peace with nature.
A society need a balance of tech and pure nature. The green colour implies nature and a bulb shows technology. Bulb also points out the need of some innovative IDEAS that can make our society a better place to live in.

Prakash Meena 8 I am not good in art or graphics, but I tried to Make it.
Wheel and circle structure used in center part of each logo:
"I used a ship wheel ( steering) which a symbol of greatest achivement of technology in history that changed the world. We use wheel everywhere for tranportation, communication( old phone dialing), medical, space, industries etc. It will also drives the human future in different path of technology. I used a circle outside the wheel to represent as human lifecycle and earth where the technology effected most. also I used white colour that means technology must be used for human friendly, not from war and destruction. Its show the peaceful social implication of technological."
The logos are present in different colors as follows:
Logo 1. I used light blue for achivements like sky in outer area and inside the square green for environment friendly development to be achieved in future.
logo 2. Used same light blue inside the hexagone and dark outside the hexagone. Inside the hexagone same wheel and circle used. I used IEEE that is optional and can be removed. Hexagone shows the boundary of human achivements using technology and needs to be cover outside the hexagone. I used this mathematical structure " hexagone" because I think that our outer space world is spread like hexagone structure.
logo 3. It is simple black and white logo. Colours can be changed according to needs.

Qazi Mamoon 1 9 I have based the logo on the "Green" color since SSIT is concerned with sustainability and particularly green initiatives, so the logo theme color should highlight that so that the viewer can relate immediately.

The two bars of blue at the bottom right of "SSIT" symbolizes the two facets of SSIT which interface with the world viz. the ISTAS and the T&S magazine.

To balance the aesthetics of the two bars, the text and a continual bar was placed at the bottom left.

The logo does not use multitude of colours and gradients and is safe to be used in black-and-white contexts, can be replicated in low quality image platforms such as 100-200 dpi resolution of faxes and even embossed onto metal surfaces.

The minamlist use of colour lends a subtle touch and makes it safe to be reproduced in black and white/or even grayscale.

Thanks to Ambrose Li for his feedback on my first logo.

10 I have based the logo on the "Green" color since SSIT is concerned with sustainability and particularly green initiatives.

A stick figure on top of "I" has been included who is trying to cross to the "T". This symbolizes how technology helps society in moving forward.

The two shades of green in "SSIT" symbolizes the two facets of SSIT which interface with the world viz. the ISTAS and the T&S magazine.

I purposely avoided the BOLD and opted for the much soothing, and sensitive frame for the "SSIT" text.

Stuart Moran12  Lots of interesting logos popping up, so I thought I would join in on the fun. Like the logo, I think my description will be as simple and clear as I can make it.

Society and technology are both high complex and becoming heavily interwoven. Our job as researchers is to cut through this complexity, uncover the scaffolding and structure, and draw from it the fundamental issues and questions that need to be considered. Something along those lines anyway

Qazi Mamoon 20     I have based the logo on a color similar to the one IEEE is using.

The two bars of blue at the bottom "SSIT" and the icon symbolizes the two facets of SSIT which interface with the world viz. the ISTAS and the T&S magazine.

The icon contains the image of a USB drive. I deliberately used a USB drive because it enables us more face-to-face social interaction to share files, as compared to the Internet. The USB also represents technology.

22 The concept behind logo : As usual, I started with listing keywords and listed such keywords in priority. Words I felt important were Society, Social, Technology, Learning, Research, IEEE. Being a society in a global scale, I was sure that it needs to have a logo usable in multiple platform, multiple size. Hence I went with plain, flat, minimal design.

Using the most stereo type representation is the best way to make people understand the idea behind. The logo focus on two things - Globe, that represents Society and Gear, that represent Technology. The diamond shape and the blue shade are used which connects SSIT to IEEE branding, while the Kite is not direct replica of IEEE, making SSIT to have an individual identity. The font used is Open Sans, which is licensed under Apache License.

Attaching the logo and its multiple usage forms. Please let me know if there is any other clarifications/corrections needed. Thank you.

Satya Tazi 2    23 This logo represents "Society on social Implication of Technology", there is a blue color represents IEEE logo and persons represents social relations of all world Technology. This is a basic idea behind of its logo.

Satya Tazi1 24 This is my original idea dear then i have already posted this before you on 23 august. Here Earth Blue color are shown IEEE logo and in side IEEE a SSIT is part then this is share by people

Asfaa Ashfaq2 25 This logo represents SSIT as a global society, blue color is used particularly because IEEE logo is blue. The format of the globe shows relation to technology and telecommunication and thus the social aspect of SSIT. the design on the outside of the Globe represents a technological perspective.

Bibin Mathew Joseph 26 "The scope of the society includes such issues as environmental, economic, health, and safety implications of technology; engineering ethics and professional responsibility; engineering education in social implications of technology; history of electrotechnology; technical expertise and public policy; peace technology; and social issues related to energy, information technology and telecommunications."

This is quoted from the website of IEEE SSIT.
For IEEE SSIT community, technology is the key factor.
and for IEEE it advances technology for humanity..!

Mixing the thoughts i developed a logo that shows a helping hand and themed the system as "Building a technology that helps".

27 The difference between a technology’s growth and its implications on the society can never be seen but only be felt. The logo is designed in such a way that it can surely support the scope of “SSIT” (where “SIT” stands for “Social Implications of Technology” and not just “Society” and “Technology” themselves). This logo carries the word of "social implications" in it (along with society and technology). The logo consists of 4 different attributes, comprising 4 Different colors in it.

Here is a Overview of the logo:

Lotus is a good representation for beauty and its hidden attachment. The technology (either positive or negative) is always hidden behind the "happiness and smiles" or "sadness and sorrows" of the society. Hence, here technology is inspired to that of earth (which is hidden inside the water) and the society inspired to that of a lotus.

A mechanical wheel is a perfect representation for engineering techniques with which most of the technologies work. Moreover, Nevertheless of being good or bad the implications of technology kept growing. The Social implications of technology are routed from industries; plants are the basic resource for those industries. Hence, the plants (green leaf) pointed towards industries (engineering wheel) in the logo will carry this meaning.

The root causes of technology are natural resources. In most time, these natural resources are themselves used as technology to help the humans. Coffee seeds are one of such natural resource which itself acts as a technology to help humans in many ways. This wheel is lifted by a natural coffee seed (which is shown in the form of an outline).

In general, plug is a device that connects a Powerful material (which is at rest) with the electric power (in order to make this rested device get into action). A plug which represents technology when used incorrectly or when used more times than required, creates a negative impact on society” and so to show this, the plug is pointed downwards. Moreover, the letter “e” (for engineering & engineers) starts from the plug point to the outline of the coffee seeds.

To make the lotus (society) stand and not ‘sit’ (“Social implications of Technology”) and to carry a meaning that this society is not for/against technology but to showcase those positive or negative implications of technology, the lotus is proudly given a stand/legs design to it.

The Font that is designed is a custom hand made font. The basic idea of the font comes from the combination of the digital clock font (breaking points in the letter interiors) and leaf font (leaf edges in the letter exteriors). The complete logo font in a combination of this digital clock and leaf fonts makes it look like technology and environment together resulting in implications of the society respectively (and so I am naming it as the society font). The taglines are given Times New Roman font where this is the standard IEEE font to write research articles.

[NOTE: Modern art is used in the logo Just to meet word requirement "IMPLICATIONS" in SSIT and not just "Earth/society" and "technology".
More Detailed explaination about attributes/elements in the logo, colors, color combinations, fonts; what, why and how they are related is presented in my dedicated IEEE webpage, a short url: http://p4u.in/Please visit the link for more clear description]

I am always ready to make improvements/modification in the logo if suggested.
